Rural Payments Agency Misses BPS Payment Target

Dispute Resolution - 1 minute read

This article may not come to much of a surprise to our farming clients, or to anyone else following the progress of the new Basic Payment Scheme (which is the scheme by which farmers receive subsidies from The EU).

According to the recent statistics, only 85% of applicants had been paid their subsidies by 1 April, but the RPA’s (Rural Payment Agency’s) original target was between 92 to 95% by the end of March.

In addition to the late payments, some applicants are also finding that their payments are lower than they were expecting, and appear to be struggling to get through to the RPA’s call centre to discuss it.

The Rural Payments Agency (RPA) has failed to meet its own target to pay 'nearly all” farmers their 2015 basic payment by 1 April.
